Description
The coffee cultivation is tradition in Sérgio dos Reis family. His grandfather acquired the property in the 70's and his father kept the business going during the 90's, teaching Sérgio everything he needed to know regarding this activity. At the beginning they also worked with sugar cane cultivation, but as the years went by, coffee earned the whole place. Sérgio graduated in Agriculture in attempt to specialize himself in the coffee culture and brush up the skills, improving his work at Sítio Córrego Grande. The coffee cherries are picked in the best maturation stage, then they are taken to the pulp machine or straight to the patios, if they're suitable for Natural processing. Sérgio works with family farming, meaning he doesn't have employees in the property; all the procedures are done by him and his family members. To be prepared to manage the nutrition of soil and plants, the coffee cycle during the whole year, Sérgio receives support from the Cooxupé's agronomists, and being himself an agronomist, they can combine forces to reassure the coffee's quality. 20% of the property is preserved area with native trees and there's a project going on so they can recover water sources present there.
